Zach McMenis

Class of 2025

Zachary McMenis is an exceptional student with a cumulative GPA of 4.5 and straight A’s all throughout high school. He was a tuba player in the Krewe of Blue Band and first chair tuba for his junior and senior year. Zach achieved not only the award for student of the year at LOHS 24-25, but he was Parish Student of the Year as well. He involved himself in many clubs including Beta Club (where he becomes an officer in his senior year). Ambassadors Club, Key Club, and P7 Club. His received a 32 ACT score with his PSAT score being 1400. Zachary has been awarded AP scholar with Distinction for acquiring a score of 5 on four AP tests and was also an assistant teacher in leading two of those AP classes. In addition to his academic accomplishments, he remains active in youth ministry at Live Oak Church.

Sylvia White

Class of 2023

Sylvia White was a very active person in clubs and the communities, such as cross country all state and honorable mention, as well as swim where she broke records and was a academic all state. She is a leader and a role model for those younger than her, always aiming to be the best she can be. Sylvia also took the USM Presidential Honors Scholarship (full ride for 4 years) which is awarded for intellectual curiosity, creativity, engagement, openness to new ideas, passion for learning, and drive. All of her achievements and hard work led her to becoming the Livingston Parish Student of the Year in 2023.

Sylvia White received the Live Oak Student of the Year award in 2023. Sylvia earned a 4.0 GPA and straight A’s all throughout high school. Over her high school years, she passed 10 AP exams earning her both the AP Scholar with Distinction and AP Capstone awards. In her senior year, she was voted prom queen, ad senior class president. Along with these accomplishments, she was included in a number of clubs and extracurriculars. Sylvia was the Key Club president and secretary, an Ambassadors officer, and contributed to Beta and Reach events as well as earning Summa Cum Laude status. Alongside her academic accomplishments, she had stayed involved in many sports. She was captain and of the LOHS Varsity Swim Team, LOHS Varsity Cross Country, and LOHS Varsity Girls’ Soccer teams as well as track and field. She is currently on athletic scholarship on the University of Southern Mississippi cross country team.
